Centrophenoxine (aka Lucidril) was derived from DMAE, which is a well-known and popular nootropic product itself. However, Centrophenoxine is better absorbed than DMAE and belongs to the cholinergic group of nootropics. It is considered to be one of the top cognition enhancing products on the market. Its reputation is well supported by more than 50 years of clinical research and testing as well as peer-reviewed journal articles.
Centrophenoxine improves memory, learning abilities, alertness, attention span and concentration. It was also shown to help with brain health and neuron maintenance, by removing the naturally occurring waste from the brain cells. It can help people with age related cognitive degeneration problems, such as dementia. Research examining its effectiveness on Alzheimer’s disease also shows positive results. Most people take Centrophenoxine as a cognitive booster and an anti-aging product rather than actual medication, though.
This nootropic is one of the best memory enhancers currently available on the market. It works particularly well with the long-term memory formation, storage and recall. Because Centrophenoxine increases the levels of acetylcholine in the brain cells, it can be a great option for stacking with other known nootropics (see below for more information). Good examples are Aniracetam, Oxiracetam, Noopept and other nootropics that work by altering the levels of acetylcholine neurotransmitter. Thus, Centrophenoxine is a great choline source to be used alongside other nootropics.
Overall, Centrophenoxine is a safe compound that can help various people in a large number of different ways, including helping the brain healthy and slowing down the signs of aging.
The dosage of this product largely depends on individual needs and primary purpose for using it. The recommended daily dosage is between 250-1000 mg though. This can be taken in one or two equal administrations throughout the day. If you opt to split the dose into smaller administrations, make sure you take it in the morning and early afternoon. By taking Centrophenoxine in the late afternoon/evening you may experience sleep disturbances and difficulties as it is known to increase user’s energy. Start with the lowest dosage of Centrophenoxine and adjust according to its effects and individual demands.
Centrophenoxine stacks well with racetams. However, stacking Centrophenoxine with other nootropics, particularly racetams, means that you should adjust the dosages accordingly. If you were to stack it with any racetam, users recommend using a 5:1 ratio as your guide. For example, 2 grams of Aniracetam would be used with 400 mg of Centrophenoxine. It is not advised to take more than 1000 mg of Centrophenoxine a day. If you use other sources of choline, such as Alpha GPC, in your stack you should adjust the dosage of Centrophenoxine to reflect your needs.
Centrophenoxine is considered to be safe and very well tolerated. However, some side effects have been associated with it, albeit rare and mild. These may include headaches, fatigue, nervousness, nausea, diarrhea and dizziness. Centrophenoxine should not be taken by people suffering from high blood pressure, epilepsy and during pregnancy. If any of the listed side effects do occur, simply reduce the dosage or discontinue the use altogether. The unwanted effects should stop within days. Avoid taking Centrophenoxine under the tongue. It was reported that sublingual administration may cause skin problems, such as rashes and irritations.
